Local NAACP donates to LCS in honor of MLK

Local chapter of NAACP donates to LCS in honor of MLK

Lexington City Schools is looking to enhance their schools' food pantries and "Just in Case" closets that provide essential items to students, such as school supplies, toiletries, and hats, gloves and socks. To support this effort, LCS is working to match each school with a community partner who is willing to support these initiatives. Assistant superintendent David Miller attended a recent event and shared the needs of the school system and how agencies could partner with our schools to support our students. In response, the local chapter of the Davidson County NAACP, Lexington Branch, donated items to Lexington City Schools for use in their school-based food pantries and "Just in Case" closets in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  NAACP representatives Ms. Rosa Terry and Ms. Nandra Gant delivered numerous items to school superintendent, Dr. Anitra Wells, and Mr. Miller, along with a check for $400 to support and strengthen these school initiatives.
